Be-Well

When My Hair Started Falling Out (And What Finally Helped)

One of the first things I noticed after moving to Dubai wasn’t the heat.

It was my hair.

Every time I brushed it…

More hair.

Every time I washed it…

Even more.

Soon, hair falling onto my shoulders, my clothes and the bathroom floor became part of everyday life.

Like many people living in Dubai, I heard all kinds of explanations.

“It’s the water.”

“It’s the summer heat.”

“It’s because you always tie your hair back.”

“It’s just stress.”

Honestly…

I wasn’t sure which one to believe.

Perhaps it was a combination of all of them.

I also live with psoriasis, which occasionally affects my scalp. When my scalp becomes dry and itchy, my hair tends to fall even more.

Over the years, I’ve learned that hair loss isn’t usually caused by one single thing.

Sometimes it’s hormones.

Sometimes stress.

Sometimes nutrition.

Sometimes genetics.

Sometimes simply getting older.

All I knew was this…

I wanted to take better care of my hair.

So I started experimenting.

Not everything worked.

But a few things made a noticeable difference.

Biotin

The very first recommendation came from a dermatologist.

She suggested I try Biotin.

I took 5,000 mcg daily, and after a few months I began noticing tiny baby hairs growing around my hairline.

It wasn’t overnight.

But it was enough to convince me that something was changing.

When I stopped taking it, the improvement gradually slowed down.

That taught me something important.

Hair takes time.

Growing healthy hair is a long-term commitment, not a quick fix.

My Favourite Hair Tonic

After trying several products over the years, one product stood out above the rest.

Kaminomoto Hair Growth Accelerator II.

For me, this has become one of those products I keep buying.

I noticed less hair fall and healthier new growth after using it consistently.

Will it work for everyone?

I honestly don’t know.

Hair is incredibly personal.

Different hair types.

Different genetics.

Different hormones.

Different lifestyles.

But this is one product that genuinely worked for me.

Oiling My Hair

One of my housemates had beautiful long, thick hair.

Her secret?

She oiled her hair every week.

She mixed olive oil with castor oil and gently massaged it into her scalp.

Eventually I copied her routine.

Whether it was the massage, the moisture, or simply taking time to care for my scalp…

I don’t know.

But my scalp certainly felt healthier afterwards.

It also became one of my favourite little self-care rituals.

Vegetables…

This one surprised me the most.

Recently, I’ve been trying to eat more vegetables.

Not because of my hair.

Simply because I’m getting older and trying to take better care of myself.

A few months later…

I realised my hair seemed to be growing faster.

Was it the vegetables?

Perhaps.

Was it everything combined?

Probably.

I can’t prove it scientifically.

I only know what I observed in my own body.

It reminded me once again that healthy hair often begins with nourishing ourselves from the inside.

Gentle Habits Matter Too

Over the years I’ve also made a few small changes.

  • I brush my hair before bed.

  • I avoid washing it every day.

  • I use conditioner regularly.

  • I try not to tie it too tightly.

  • I choose shampoos that suit my scalp rather than simply smelling nice.

None of these changes transformed my hair overnight.

But together…

They made a difference.

Looking Back

If there’s one thing my hair has taught me, it’s patience.

Hair doesn’t grow back overnight.

Neither does confidence.

Both need care.

Both need consistency.

And sometimes…

they simply need time.

💡 Be-Bulb Reflection

Healthy hair isn’t just about finding the right shampoo.

It’s about caring for the whole person.

The food we eat.

The stress we carry.

The sleep we get.

The way we care for ourselves each day.

Our bodies are constantly responding to how we live.

Sometimes they whisper.

Sometimes they shout.

And sometimes…

they simply ask us to slow down and take better care of ourselves.
